There is no greater guarantee of the reliability of the Bible than the promise, the oath, of almighty God himself. We can stand confidently on the principles and truths of God’s word because He personally guarantees it and He cannot lie (Titus 1:2). Our hope is secure because God’s trust-worthiness is beyond question.
Jesus said that the primary reason for divorce is the hardness of our hearts (Matt. 19:8). Our hearts become hardened toward one another when we allow sins to go unconfessed. James writes, “confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed” (James 5:16). Join with me as we pray about confessing sin.
Nicodemus was a very religious man but he didn’t know God personally. It took an encounter with Jesus to open his eyes to the truth of the gospel. He discovered that knowing God didn’t depend on his track record, but on Jesus’ track record being credited to his life.
The importance of prayer is seen on an occasion when Jesus’ disciples were unable to cast out a demon. Jesus told them “This kind cannot come out by anything but prayer” (Mark 9:29). There are some things that can only be accomplished through prayer.
We serve a praying God. Both the Holy Spirit and Jesus, the Son, intercede on behalf of believers. God, himself, views prayer as supremely important. Join with me, this Christmas, and give the valuable gift of prayer, interceding on behalf of our family and friends.

Can we pray for the salvation of a lost person? Absolutely! The Apostle Paul models a passionate prayer life for the salvation of the lost. In Romans 10 Paul writes, “Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them (Jewish kinsmen) is that they may be saved” (Romans 10:1). Take time today to intercede on behalf of the people in your life that you long to see place their faith in Christ.
Do you need wisdom to discern a next step? As a parent do you need wisdom in your parenting? Is there a challenging situation in your workplace that requires sound wisdom to navigate the best course? James writes, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him” (James 1:5). Join with me today as we ask God for the wisdom we need to face today’s challenges.
Are you feeling overwhelmed with life’s concerns today? One of the most hope-filled passages of scripture in all the bible is Phillipians 4:6-7. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Paul prayed for the inner strengthening of believers by the Holy Spirit of God. Let’s allow Paul’s prayer to be our own today. “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family[c] in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being” (Ephesians 3:14-15).
